In a significant boost to the “Make in India” initiative, Panasonic Smart Factory Solutions India has unveiled their innovative NPM-G Series surface mount technology machines for the Indian manufacturing landscape. These cutting-edge machines, specifically the NPM-GH modular mounter and the NPM-GP screen printing machines, are set to revolutionize the way Printer Circuit Boards (PCB) are assembled, emphasizing India’s push towards becoming a global manufacturing hub and furthering its journey towards self-reliance.

Panasonic Smart Factory Solutions India (PSFSIN), a prominent division of the diversified tech giant, Panasonic Life Solutions India, unveiled their groundbreaking NPM-G Series surface mount technology (SMT) machines, specifically the NPM-GH modular mounter and the NPM-GP screen printing machines, for the Indian market. These machines are pivotal in the transformation towards “Autonomous Factory” operations, setting new benchmarks for assembling Printer Circuit Boards (PCB) with unmatched precision.

The hallmark of the NPM G Series SMT machines is their ability to adapt autonomously to real-time shifts in customer demand, making the vision of an autonomous factory more tangible. Their adaptability and customizability effectively address PCBAs’ production challenges while amplifying manufacturing automation.

During the unveiling, Manish Sharma, the Chairman of Panasonic Life Solutions India and South Asia, remarked, “With incentives like the PLI scheme, India is steadily evolving into a global manufacturing epicenter. Our NPM-G series SMT machines align with India’s self-reliance (Aatmanirbhar) vision, enhancing OEMs’ PCB Assembly capabilities. This is instrumental in manufacturing premium electronics, including mobiles and wearables, on Indian soil.”

Tsutomu Naito, Divisional Managing Director of PSFSIN, accentuated the machines’ transformative potential, saying, “Our ambition is to redefine manufacturing by integrating superior equipment with edge devices. The NPM-GH and NPM-GP machines pave the way for autonomous factories, elevating production capacity, quality, and efficiency standards. These machines ramp up productivity by a remarkable 12%, showcasing our commitment to manufacturing automation.”

  • NPM-GH Modular Mounter: This machine epitomizes the “Autonomous Factory” concept, setting unparalleled standards in mounting accuracy and productivity. With its innovative Flat contact heads, the NPM-GH achieves a staggering speed of 103,000 chips per hour. Its precision is emphasized by an accuracy of ±15 μm. Enhanced with a bigger operational screen and dual side controls, it stands out for its user-friendly interface.
  • NPM-GP/L Screen Printing Machine: Boasting a world-leading solder paste printing performance, the NPM-GP/L delivers a precision of ±3.8 μm and a cycle time of 12 seconds. Its features, such as automated model changeover and real-time operation optimization, facilitate prolonged production. The integral APC 5M feature ensures consistently superior printing quality.

The APC-5M System: Enhancing the new machines, Panasonic has also rolled out the APC-5M system, a cutting-edge solution for process control. This system meticulously monitors real-time discrepancies in production, detects anomalies, and autonomously pinpoints root causes. Over time, as it gathers more data, the APC-5M system refines its factory optimization capabilities, excelling in real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.
